Important Announcement for Prospective Transfer Students!
As you may have heard, the University of Florida is limiting the number of transfer students to be admitted for the 2008-2009 academic year. While some admission decisions for CALS applicants will be released on April 15, we are still receiving and reviewing transfer applications. We appreciate your interest in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences and we hope that you will be patient while we make every effort to admit as many qualified applicants as we possibly can.
- Dr. Lynn Bailey, Professor of Food Science and Human Nutrition, has been named UF Teacher/Scholar of the Year. The oldest and most prestigious faculty award, Teacher/Scholar of the Year recognizes one faculty member who demonstrates distinguished achievement in both teaching and scholarly activity as well as visibility within and beyond the university. The first Teacher/Scholar Award was given to Dr. George K. Davis, CALS faculty member, in 1960.
- Dr. Lisa House, Professor of Food and Resource Economics, has been named UF Adviser of the Year.
- The North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) have announced awards to be presented in June. Ms. Roslynn Brain and Ms. Ann De Lay, doctoral candidates in the Agricultural Education and Communication Department, will receive NACTA Graduate Student Teaching Awards. Dr. Ricky Telg, Professor of Agricultural Education and Communication will be awarded the 2008 NACTA Southern Region Outstanding Teacher Award.

The College of Agricultural and Life Sciences (CALS) administers the degree programs of the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS). IFAS is a federal, state, and local government partnership dedicated to develop knowledge in agriculture, human and natural resources, and the life sciences and to make that knowledge accessible to sustain and enhance the quality of human life. With 24 undergraduate majors, more than 50 areas of specialization and 20 graduate programs, CALS is an educational leader in the areas of food, agriculture, natural resources and life sciences.
