- Do I have to be enrolled full-time?
Scholarship recipients, with the exception of Florida Rural Rehabilitation Corporation Off-Campus Scholarship recipients, must be enrolled full-time at UF during the semesters during which they receive awards. Transient coursework does not count toward full-time status.
Full-time enrollment is 12 hours for undergraduate students and 9 hours for graduate students.
If you are graduating in a particular semester and require less than full-time enrollment to complete your degree, you may be granted an exception by the CALS Dean's Office. Students may also be granted an exception if they have been approved for a reduced course load by the Disability Resource Center.

Undergraduate scholarship applications are evaluated by a faculty committee and scored on the following:
- Scholastic achievements, honors and awards
- Extracurricular activities
- Professional potential
- Scholarship
Graduate scholarship applications are evaluated by a faculty committee and scored on the following:
- Scholastic achievements, honors and awards
- Leadership activities, including service to department, college, UF or professional societies
- Teaching activities
- Scholarship in discipline (publications, posters and presentations, for example)
- Letters of recommendation
- Quality of research abstract
- Academic performance
Awards are made based on individual fund criteria and availability of funds.
- When will I find out if I received a scholarship?
Ten freshman scholars will be notified prior to May 1. All other scholarship recipients, including additional freshmen, will be notified via USPS and email in early August.
Applicants not selected for a scholarship are notified via email.
- When will I receive my funds?
Funds are disbursed approximately 6 weeks after the start of the semester. After the drop/add period ends, the CALS Dean's Office has to individually verify that each of the CALS scholarship recipients meets the criteria for his or her scholarship before releasing funds.
You will not see your scholarship on your financial aid package until funds have been disbursed. Disbursement of this scholarship may alter your total financial aid package. Students may wish to self-report scholarships to Student Financial Affairs.
