Legislative Internships

Why a legislative internship?
Legislative internships have multiple benefits for students from a wide variety of majors:

“My internship with Congressman Adam Putnam in Washington, DC was an experience I will never forget,” said Morgan Taylor, agricultural education and communication junior. “I would highly recommend congressional internships in our Nation’s Capitol to anyone who will be casting a vote in any election in the future, not just for someone interested in running for a political office.”

CALS undergraduate Morgan Taylor interned with Congressman Adam Putnam in Summer 2008.

Finding a legislative internship

A wide variety of internship programs are available for students. For example, students may wish to intern at the state or federal level with an individual senator or representative or for a committee. Many of Florida's U.S. Senators and Representatives have information about internship programs on their web sites. Students desiring assistance in finding a legislative internship should e-mail Cathy Herren Carr, Director of Alumni and Career Services.
