CALFED Science Fellows Program
The CALFED Science Program and the California Sea Grant College Program developed a fellows program for predoctoral students and postdoctoral researchers. The aim of the program is to bring together junior scientists with CALFED Program agency scientists and senior research mentors in collaborative data analysis and research projects relevant to ecosystem management and water-supply reliability questions, including analyses of the immense monitoring database collected and maintained by the implementing agencies. The Science Program is seeking applications from qualified individuals to compete for fellowship opportunities in 2008. California Sea Grant will administer and manage the fellowship program on behalf of the Science Program. Fellowships will be awarded addressing the priority issues identified for 2008.
Stipends: $45,000 per year for Postdocs or $25,000 per year for Graduate Fellows for up to two years, plus eligible expenses.

2008 AIR/NCES/NPEC/NSF Grant and Fellowship Program
The Association for Institutional Research (AIR), with support from NCES, NSF and NPEC, offers an annual, comprehensive research and fellowship program. The goal of these grant programs is to provide professional development opportunities to doctoral students, institutional researchers, educators and administrators, to ultimately foster the use of federal databases for institutional research in postsecondary education.
2008 Grant and Fellowship awards will include:
- Research Grants of up to $40,000
- Dissertation Fellowships of up to $20,000
- Fellowships for Graduate Study of up to $30,000 over three years
- Postdoctoral Policy Fellowships in Washington
- Scholarships to the Data Policy Summer Institute

Christine Mirzayan Science & Technology Policy Graduate Fellowship Program
This Graduate Fellowship Program of the National Academies - consisting of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, Institute of Medicine, and National Reserach Council - is designed to engage graduate science, engineering, medical, veterinary, business, public policy, and law students in the analytical process that informs the creation of national policy-making with a science/technology element. As a result, students develop basic skills essential to working in the world of science policy. Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars and those who have completed graduate studies or postdoctoral research within the last 5 years are eligible to apply. To apply, candidates should submit an application and request that a mentor/advisor fill out the online reference form. References can be received in advance of the application and are good for an indefinite period of time. Questions should be directed to policyfellows@nas.edu.
For the year 2008, the fellowship program will comprise of three sessions:
- Winter Program: January 7 - March 14 (10 weeks); App. Deadline 11/1/2007
- Summer Program: June 2 - August 8 (10 weeks); App. Deadline 3/1/2008
- Fall Program: September 8 - November 14 (10 weeks); App. Deadline 6/1/2008
USDA Foreign Agricultural Service International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP)
We are looking for a few outstanding senior and graduate level college and university students to work in our OVERSEAS offices to promote U.S. agricultural interests through the International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP) for SUMMER 2008. The USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service, one of the four U.S. government foreign service agencies, places about ten students each semester (spring, summer and fall) with excellent analysis, marketing, writing, language and organizational skills and experience to work on international agricultural trade policy issues, commodity and market analysis and organizing trade events in our overseas offices for a 10-16 week paid internship. U.S. citizen students who are majoring in a business or science related agricultural field, i.e. Ag Econ, Econ, Finance, Business or Marketing, International Studies or Relations, Law or in a Biotechnology Program are eligible. USDA Foreign Agricultural Service Career Internship Program (CIP)
The USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) Career Intern Program (CIP) is designed to prepare exceptional men and women who have professional experiences in agriculture and/or business, a college degree, and competencies for careers in public service with FAS. Interns will participate in a two-year program that is designed to fine-tune their skills and abilities. FAS hires full-time employees for international trade specialists and agricultural economist positions through the CIP. During the two-year internship, interns work as full-time employees with substantial training and rotation opportunities. Upon successful completion, interns are offered permanent career positions. At present, the Foreign Agricultural Service is not accepting Career Internship Program (CIP) applications because of budgetary constraints. Please check the FAS CIP site on a regular basis for news of the next deadline. Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship
The Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship was established in 1928 by Woman's National Farm and Garden Association, Inc. The Woman's National Farm and Garden Association offers the Sarah Bradley Tyson Memorial Fellowship for advanced study in agriculture, horticulture, and allied subjects. The fellowship is open to properly qualified young women and men who have proven their ability by several years experience. Awards have been made in recognition of leadership in cooperative extension work and initiative in scientific research. The fellowship is to be used for advanced study (masters or doctorate) at an educational institution of recognized standing within the United States. It is to be chosen by the candidate and with the approval of the Fellowship Committee.
